Devlog - Prototype #5

Roadmap?

There is currently no roadmap. The one that I used in previous devlogs is outdated. That roadmap was created in the very early stages of the project and is not very in line with the current stage of the project. And, since the project will be released in a few weeks, I can spend my time better on creating the actual game.

Here is what I am roughly planning to do:

June 14: Created and implemented all the puzzles and levels, added more visuals and look at how I can increase the player experience

June 22: Added more details and assets, look at performance, and at the player experience. Improved the overview of the puzzles.

June 26: Work towards my graduation, add in some small details and release the beta version of the game, here on itch.io.

Level 3.2 (Co) - Layout and obstacles

This level isn't much different compared with last week. I have rearranged the puzzles so that it connects with the next puzzle more seamlessly. I have also added the obstacles in the form of large assets.

Level 3.3 (Cu+Co) - Layout and obstacles

I have created the puzzles for level 3.3, which include both the Cubes feature (Cu) and the Contiguous Cubes feature (Co). Once the puzzles were made, they were implemented in Unreal and the obstacles were added. This is so that there are challenges and solutions.

Level 3.5 (Ex) - Layout

The puzzles for level 3.5 were also made. This level contains the Extended Cubes feature (Ex) only. This is the introduction level for this feature. The puzzles are translated to a level and the level is implemented in Unreal, obstacles still have to be added.

Verticality

A redesign for the map layout was necessary. There were still too many levels, so I have reduced the number of levels. While doing that, I was also looking into adding some more verticality in the game. In order for the player to be at different heights in the game, I added the verticality in the bridges. The game has 4 different bridges, shown below.

Redesign of the map layout includes small down-scope and adding verticality in the map

Map Down-Scale (again)

This week there was another down-scope in the number of levels. This was during the redesign of the map layout.

Thank you

The reason why I am creating these devlogs is to log my work publicly. To give a sense of pressure to me. However, I am always open to feedback and constructed criticism. If you have a question or feedback, feel free to leave it below! Thank you again for reading!
